About me

Greetings! I am Dr. Ilya Dines, a specialist in medieval manuscripts, codicology, and paleography, with over two decades of experience in the field. I earned my PhD from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where I focused on the Third Family of Bestiaries. I subsequently spent several years at the Thomas Institute at the University of Cologne, delving into medieval pigments and recipes from the 11th to 14th centuries. I have collaborated with prestigious institutions such as the National Library of Israel and the Library of Congress. My expertise extends to evaluating, purchasing, and selling medieval manuscripts and rare books in languages including Latin, Greek, Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Russian, French, German, and Italian, produced before the year 1600. I also compile catalogs for private and governmental libraries, inspect collections for mold and fungi, and offer guidance on preservation and digitization practices.
